ABOUT US
Global Scholars is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit club that started in Adolfo Camarillo High School a little over a year ago. Our mission is to provide opportunities to underprivileged youth in the community and abroad who are academically motivated and pursuing a college education. We are primarily planning to contribute by offering $1,000 scholarships to high school students in our local community and abroad in order to help subsidize their collegiate education. In addition, we have other smaller scale projects such as school supply/book drives and local community service volunteering events to help students’ involvement in the community. Our goal for this school year is to fundraise at least $10,000 to be contributed wholly to our scholarships. This will aid in subsidizing 10 students’ university tuitions. Our 2017 Charity Ball and Silent Auction is our largest fundraiser yet, and we hope that you will attend and support us!
About the Founder
Srividya Maganti
President and Founder, ACHS Junior
Srividya's passion for equality of educational opportunity stems from her personal discovery of the value of education. She was raised in an environment that taught her “If you can dream it, you can do it,” an ideal that not all families can afford to have. She is grateful to have the privilege of receiving a well-rounded education, knowing that it is the greatest asset anyone can possess. When she volunteered in the Dominican Republic as part of an educational initiative, she realized that this issue is far more pronounced in nations other than our own. Thus, she started Global Scholars Club with the goal of helping students who may not be as privileged as she is in order to receive the education that they deserve.
